Wanting a pool however unsure of what type of pool will be the best for your family and your space?
There are a couple of things to consider:
- Budget
- Lifestyle
- Longevity
- Quality
- Aesthetics
Options: Above Ground, On Ground, In Ground.
An above ground pool will get you wet and allow the kids to play and splash around. They are built fully on top of the ground. They are the most economical to purchase
An On Ground pool is similar to an inground in that it can be installed on top of the ground (rock, granite) part way in the ground, all the way in the ground. They are manufactured using exactly the same materials. Cost considerably less than in in ground pool. Cons: shapes/sizes limited
In Ground Pool Types: Concrete (Gunite), Vinyl lined, Fiberglass
- Concrete Pros: Customize shapes/sizes, durability (dogs, damage from sharp items)
- Concrete Cons: High cost of maintenance, water goes out of balance more frequently requiring more chemicals, salt water can break down the finish, most expensive to build, takes quite a while to build, rough on hands, knees, feet, the most expensive pool
- Vinyl Liner Pros: Least expensive to build, more shapes/sizes
- Vinyl Liner Cons: Liner replacements, worry/stress, easy to damage liner, steps more prone to algae growth\
- Fiberglass Pool Pros: Quick install, worry free interior, less chemical costs, Durability, less expensive than concrete pools, salt water compatible, sleek designs, smooth soft on the hands, feet, knees, lower cost of ownership than concrete or vinyl, did I mention worry free
- Fiberglass Cons: Limited shapes/sizes.
These are you options. You have to ask yourself how much do I want to invest, what do I want to achieve (aesthetics, value, outdoor living) how long will I live in this home.
