Many variable speed pumps allow you to set timers so that you can run the pump on low (600-800rpm) during the high peak energy hours. Then set a second timer to ramp it up to really move the water during times when you know the pool is going to have swimmers. Alternatively you can also set the timer to run at medium or somewhere between the 600 – 3400 marker.
